** SPOILERS **
Since the release of the Age of Ultron this week; it has become a target for people complaining at ‘this’ or ‘that’ isn’t to their liking. For instance, Black Widow was depicted in a stereotypical role. She should have been leading the team. Why doesn’t she have merch?
Okay, the merch thing is a problem. The solution is to make your own Black Widow merch. Since Disney has dropped the ball, why not reuse and retool disney princess dolls into Black Widow Action Figures.
Was it a bland role? Remember there isn’t a whole lot of character development in Superhero movies. It’s mostly about the POW and the WHAM. Character development rarely takes place in the middle of a firefight.
Given that context, did Black Widow have any character development?
Sure! She emotionally connects with the Hulk/Banner. She revisits her training. And then she has a character reveal that happens towards the end. We learn she is friends with Hawkeye and his wife. Big Stuff in the world of superhero movies.
Given that context, did Thor have any character development?
Oh Heck NO! He starts and ends the movie in the same emotional spot. He learns something new about his next movie. But he started off the movie cracking jokes and ends it by still cracking jokes.
If anything, there should be worldwide outrage at Thor’s lack of character development.
Hawkeye had some character development as well. We learned he like the word slut a lot. Maybe the actor should read up on what the word means. It doesn’t mean that you sleep with a lot people. It’s a judgemental word about the moral character of another person.
